41. Joshua – A birthday present from the Lord for my son Ronnie

In testimony 40, I shared about my divine appointment in Hongkong. I returned to Singapore on the 24th just past midnight. The 24th June was my son’s birthday.
After we had our celebration with the family members in the late afternoon, Florence and I decided to go for a drive to spend time with our children.
As we were wondering where we should go to have a meaningful time with the children, a thought came to my mind – “visit our first home in Woodlands, where Ronnie spent his time as a baby.” We could have a recollection of memories and ponder about how the Lord had brought us through the last 9 years (Ronnie is 9). That would be meaningful.
Then I reasoned, “But we do not who is living there now, and it would be out of this world to think that we could have a look at our old home.” So we said that we would be content to just walk past out home.
When we reached the block, we first paid a visit to our former neighbor – an ex-Lutheran pastor, his wife and their 2 children. We had not seen each other in years and had a good time catching up. As we talked, they said that our old home is now occupied by new owners who came from China and they are young Christians.
After we had left the pastor’s home, we walked down the corridor past our old home. To our surprise, we saw that the door was opened and the family was just finishing dinner. Florence said hello to them and introduced ourselves as the first owners of the home. To our even greater surprise, they opened the door and invited us in. We felt like we didn’t want to inconvenience them but they were happy to have us “see” our old place.
So we said we will just go in to have a quick look. As we started talking, it became apparent that the Lord had set up another divine appointment. We started talking about the Lord, and we encouraged this family of new Christians in the things of the Lord. The Lord had touched their lives but they were new to may things in the Lord. As we shared about the baptism in the Spirit, I could sense a deep hunger in them. We talked for close to two hours and I gave them a copy of my book, “Walking on Water”.
Andy shared about how they had searched many homes (about 40 if I recall) before they found our home. He did not get to know our home through an agent but found it somehow. He felt the sense of peace and bought the place. He said that our home played a part in his family salvation. One day, after they had moved in, they brought their son to the playground downstairs, where a Christian invited them to an event. That resulted in their family salvation. We were thrilled that our home brought forth peace in his heart, and we were overjoyed that our home had a part in his family salvation. I can only believe that it was the presence of the Lord.
The coupled also shared a powerful testimony from China that left an impression. A believer was being forced to renounce his faith. He did not know what to do. While he was asleep, the Lord gave him a dream. In the dream, he was a piece of A4 paper being folded and cut in a specific was. He saw that when the pieces of paper were arranged, there was the sign of the cross with the word “eternal life” in Chinese. When they removed the cross, the word became “death” in Chinese. They demonstrated it to me and I thought it was awesome. No one in his natural ability could have conjured up something as marvelous as that. It was a dream from the Lord.
That man, as he was forced to renounce his faith, shared and demonstrated the dream to the people in authority. The people were shocked and they allowed him to leave.
We were blessed by the testimony from Andy and his family. We trust that we had imparted some spiritual edification through our sharing. I look forward to meeting this family again.
On top of that, we got to go into our old home and it was so meaningful to recollect memories. All our old furniture was still in use. We sat in the living room which I used to spend time praying with Florence when she was carrying Ronnie – which resulted in Florence experience of supernatural childbirth. We remembered the goodness of God.
Ronnie also recalled memories of the place where he spent his time as a baby. It was a wonderful birthday present from the Lord.
And it all started with a thought from the Holy Spirit to visit our old home.
