8. Valerie - the Lord sent a tutor for my daughter

This testimony goes back about 15 years ago when my daughter Rachel was five years old. As fellow colleagues in an MNC, Sister Eunice was my praying partner for 7 years. She has the gift of seeing visions of the Lord and she ministers to others through visions.

During the 7 years, we experienced many miracles of God through prayer. We started by praying together over lunch time. We were both working at HP. At first, there were only two of us. Eventually, our prayer group grew to about five to seven people.

One of the testimonies is about finding a Chinese tutor for Rachel. I was looking for someone who has love for children and has a motherly instinct. Eunice and I prayed together. The Word that the Lord gave through vision was - "THE TUTOR WHOM THE LORD PICKED IS SOMEONE WHO LOVES CHILDREN."

I started my search in the office. At that time, my job was to assist a group of engineers from China. I would find housing and make arrangements for their lodging and even daily expenses. One day, when I was at the Bus Stop waiting for the feeder bus, I met one of the engineers from China. I asked him if he knew someone who gave Chinese tuition. Immediately, he said that he could do it. Somehow, I was not convinced that he is one. I told him that I will think about it and put that behind me.

After a few weeks, I met this engineer again and he enquired if I have found the tutor. I said no and he shared with me that he knew another engineer in the office, whose wife gave Chinese tuition. I was so happy. He told me that he will take me to his friend, once we reached the office.

While, I was in the bus, I started talking to God. Lord, I said, how would I know if this is the right person? If I asked anyone, “Do you love Children?” of course, they will say, “Yes.” I was so burden and asked for guidance.

When I reached the office, the engineer brought me to see his Friend, John. The best part of it is that I have never met John. John was a simple man, who used to work in the U.S. and decided to take this job in HP in Singapore. He was accompanied by his wife and son. He shared with me that his son was an intelligent boy who topped the school in Chinese. His tutor was his mum. John shared that his wife gave tuition and he would check with his wife to see if she was available.

I asked John if I could speak to his wife to see how she sounded. Unfortunately, his wife spoke only Mandarin and I did not understand what she said and vice versa. John became the translator for his wife and me. She agreed to teach and I was still in doubt if she is the "right" person. I looked at John very hard and asked the Lord. How would I know if his wife really loved children? He looked at my quizzed face and said, "MY WIFE LOVES CHILDREN."

It was a confirmation to the word that the Lord had given through vision earlier. I was so overjoyed and hired her immediately. We thank the Lord for this guidance and care for Rachel, all these years.
